Walking into The Lalit Mumbai feels like stepping into a modern palace that somehow manages to be both grand and welcoming. This five-star property sits right on Sahar Airport Road, which — honestly — sounds less glamorous than it actually is. The location is brilliant if you’re flying in or out, but what surprised me is how it doesn’t feel like you’re stuck near an airport at all. The lobby has this incredible blend of contemporary Indian design with luxury touches that immediately tell you this isn’t your average business hotel.

Location & Getting Around

You know what’s interesting about Mumbai? The airport area has really transformed over the years, and The Lalit sits right in the sweet spot of this transformation. Couples absolutely love it here — I can see why, given how easy it makes exploring both the business districts and some of Mumbai’s cultural highlights. The parking situation is actually fantastic (and free, which is rare for a luxury hotel in Mumbai), so if you’re planning to rent a car or have friends picking you up, that’s one less headache. The staff genuinely knows the city well, and they’ll steer you toward the best local experiences rather than just the obvious tourist spots.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had floor-to-ceiling windows that gave me this sweeping view of the city — not the most picturesque vista Mumbai has to offer, but there’s something energizing about watching the urban sprawl come alive. The beds are seriously comfortable, and the bathroom feels more like a personal spa with its marble finishes and rainfall shower. What I appreciated most was the attention to detail — things like the quality of the linens and the way the lighting actually works for both relaxing and getting work done.

Dining & Breakfast

The breakfast spread here is honestly impressive — they’ve got everything from continental classics to proper Indian options, plus halal and vegetarian choices that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The restaurant serves some excellent regional dishes, and I mean actually excellent, not just “good for hotel food.” The chefs clearly understand both international palates and authentic Indian flavors, which isn’t always easy to balance. I found myself eating there more often than I’d planned, partly because the service was so attentive without being hovering.

  The hotel was clean and comfortable. Many places in Mumbai, such as BKC, were easy to reach from here. The room was really quiet and dark, allowing us to get a good night's sleep. The room was really large and had huge windows making it feel even more spacious.

  I had booked a room at Lalit for my aunt (who is up in age (around 84yrs), for her stay in Transit. I had informed the Hotel in advance of any potential delay in her arrival and if they could extend her checkout by 1hr or so..
  
  As suspected, she checkedin the following morning at 7am! The Gentleman who checked her into The Lalit, (i believe his name is Aniket), not only accomodate her request for late checkout, but also offered complimentary Taxi back to Airport.
  
  It is such warm hospitality and level of care taking..is what differentiates a well deserving 5 star Hotels from the rest.
